PERSONNEL

Robert L. Holdeman, AIA
Robert Holdeman oversees client relations, design and design development. His work also includes project management, interior space planning, detailing, presentation documents, construction documentation and field observation. Bob holds a Bachelor's of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Michigan Society of Architects, the National Council of Architectural Registration Board and is registered in both Michigan and Indiana. Prior to establishing AAI, Inc., Bob was associated with Field, Graheck, Bell and Kline, Inc., and David Stiffler, architect, both of Traverse City, Michigan.

Robert J. Sommerville, AIA
Robert Sommerville is primarily responsible for client relations, project and office management, construction documentation, specification writing, code conformance and contract administration. He supports these activities with design and field observation. Bob attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Michigan Society of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Board. He is registered in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Arizona. Prior to establishing AAI, Inc., Bob was associated with Wakely Associates of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and David Stiffler, architect, of Traverse City, Michigan.

David W. McDowell
David McDowell joined AAI, Inc., in 1994. His primary responsibilities are the production of working drawings, building code reviews and barrier-free design implementations. Prior to returning to his native state of Michigan, David was a production specialist for twelve years with the Salt Lake City, Utah, firms of MHTN Architects and Van Frank and Associates. David has 35 years of professional experience in the field.

Jessica N. Van Houzen, LEED AP
Jessica Van Houzen joined AAI, Inc., in May 2003. Her responsibilities at AAI, Inc., include computer-aided drafting and design, as well as architectural detailing, design and production.  Jessica graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan, receiving her B.S. in 2003 and her Master's of Architecture degree in the spring of 2005 when she was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Certificate. She is also a U.S. Green Building Council - LEED Accredited Professional. Jessica is a Traverse City native, and has local experience in commercial construction with Hallmark Construction of Traverse City. She has experience in both commercial and residential design projects.
